Eight years in the making, FreeCon is Tallahassee's only anime convention. From the brilliant minds of the Japanese Animation Club of Tallahassee, it is our mission to have a fun and exciting convention for everyone. With a sizable attendance, FreeCon is well known not only on the campus of Florida State University, but in the North Florida region. Attendance is free for all!

This year we'll be going all out, with the largest locations on the Florida State University campus. Not only will the Cosplay Contest, Maid Cafe, and Dealers Room be returning, but new events, such as a Night Club/Speak-Easy, Live Performances, and a Murder Mystery will be introduced! The scale of FreeCon 8 is unprecedented -- our Dealer's room is four times larger than it was before! We also have our first Media Guests lined up!

We finally have a confirmed hotel for all of our attendees! Looking for a place to spend the weekend? Come check out our discounted hotel:

1018 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32301

Ahoy Sailor! I'm Captain FreeCon Polly, FreeCon 8's newest mascot! Although we used to be ace fighter pilots, my crew and I are the Skull Squadron -- the alliance of amazing acrobatic flyers! My best buddy Hachiko and I pilot Hellhound-One Avenger, a prototype amphibious aircraft with exceptional speed and firepower.

Don't underestimate me! I may be clumsy and pink-haired, but my intelligence and strength are uncanny! As much as I do love flying, I also like to watch good ole American Baseball and listen to some classy swing music! My favorite food is old fashion fried corned beef and eggs (sunny-side up please!). Come see me, along with the Skull Squadron, at FreeCon 8!

Don't forget, you can Friend me on Facebook and Follow me on Twitter!

Skull Squadron, lead by Captain FreeCon Polly, are a group of ace fighter pilots. To make FreeCon 8 memorable and interactive, we created a cast of diesel-punk heroes, villains, and support characters and based all of FreeCon's events and performances on their stories, battles, and triumphs. Throughout the convention, you will be able to live and experience first hand the story of FreeCon 8! Be sure to look out for these courageous pilots, as well as their robotic archnemesis--K.R.A.K.E.N.! Interactive events for ravenous con-goers, comic books, and merchandise will be available for all to engage in the FreeCon 8 mythos!

With the Skull Squadron, FreeCon 8 will be unlike any convention in the world, redefining what an anime convention really is! Don't just celebrate anime, live it!

Here is our new and improved FreeCon 8 website! Be sure to check out all of the tabs above for the latest information on main events, panels, dealers, artists, and more! The schedule will be up early 2012. If you want to enlist in the Skull Squadron, be sure to check out their tab, as well as the Downloads section to support their cause! Those who want to help the Skull Squadron on the front should visit the Contact page! Our website will be constantly updating, so be sure to check it out often to get the latest scoop on FreeCon 8 -- only at Florida State University!
